Redressing KEE

Redress and the private members KEE Club organized a pre-Chinese New Year clothing donation drive to raise awareness about Hong Kong’s high textile waste rates and to divert unwanted clothing from landfill to
local charities. In one day, we collected 346kg of clothing, accessories and shoes were distributed to Christian Action and Friends of the Earth.

In 2010, the Hong Kong community threw away on average 234 tonnes of textiles and clothing into our nearly-full landfills everyday. Meanwhile, our local charities are in great need of quality clothing donations to assist them in improving the local environment. Next time you clear out your closet, make sure you recycle unwanted clothing in one of Hong Kong’s 190 used clothing recycling banks.
