ABOUT
EcoChic Jakarta contained 15 of Indonesia’s most influential designers and eight Hong Kong designers who shared the catwalk at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jakarta on 3 March 2008 to demonstrate one-off symbolic pieces to raise awareness about environmental sustainability. Designers’ pieces were made from a wide range of materials, including recycled materials, such as glass, tin-foil, plastic and copper to salvaged flood-damaged fabrics. Other designers paid homage to the revival of Indonesia’s batik, a meticulously designed fabric that embodies a wealth of Indonesian social and cultural values.
