With the equivalent of one rubbish truck landfilled or burned every second, fashion’s global waste is under the spotlight, and sustainability solutions are imperative. It is estimated that 80% of a product’s environmental impact is determined at the design stage. Redress champions sustainable fashion to designers and consumers, particularly in Asia, a region that accounts for some 60% of global exports of garments and textiles.

The Semi-finalists have designed incredible collections of textile waste from industry and consumers, and from luxury materials to flour bags. Their remarkable creations address the increasing demands for sustainability from consumers, especially in emerging markets.

In addition to the Semi-finalists, Redress is also welcoming its third cohort of Rising Talents, a programme offering in-depth circular fashion training and mentorship to designers who showed exceptional potential in their competition applications.

The Redress Design Award 2024 Rising Talents are:

  • Caelan Cheung, Hong Kong

  • Hu Jun-Cheng, Taiwan

  • Wei Tao, Mainland China

  • Xiang Yubei, Italy

  • Ma Qianqian, United Kingdom

  • Patrik Bukovszky, United Kingdom

The Semi-finalists and Rising Talents join the 300-strong Redress Alumni Network, which offers ongoing support to designers as they develop their careers in sustainable fashion, including retail collaborations and media connections. The Alumni Network includes previous contestants from 40 countries, who have gone on to make waves for sustainable fashion around the world, including dressing celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Heidi Klum, Taylor Swift, and Sunmi.
