Janko Lam won the Redress Design Award Hong Kong 2011 inaugural cycle. Soon after completing her winning prize of designing the first Recycled Collection for Esprit, she launched her ready-to-wear womenswear label in 2013, that blends Chinese cultural heritage and aesthetic with contemporary design. Lam is known for preserving and reimagining vintage styles for a new generation through a philosophy rooted in sustainability and wearability.
Classics Anew’s store and studio space is housed at Ko Shan Theatre New Wing, Hung Hom, where she engages in and hosts many community-driven workshops to spread ideas on traditional Chinese clothing culture and craftsmanship through the Classics Anew Academy.
In recent years, in addition to launching a new retail space at PMQ, Janko has been highly engaged in sharing her insights on sustainability in the Hong Kong fashion industry, appearing on industry speaker panels as well as prominent media stories. She continues to showcase sustainability at a cultural and heritage level through exhibitions such as in 2022 with NEW ENERGY TOKYO and Design Spectrum Hong Kong. Lam is also an alumna of Hong Kong Design Centre’s Fashion Incubation Programme.
