With 17 permanent collection points across Hong Kong we’re expanding our year round take back programme to make clothes recycling as easy and accessible as possible! The new year is traditionally a time to clear out the clutter and get organised, so if your cupboard is bursting at the seams we’re here to help…. simply drop off your clothing at Zara and PizzaExpress (with soon to be added Jeeves locations) and with our teams of dedicated volunteers we’ll do the hard work.
Last year we collected 19.4 tonnes of unwanted clothing – all of which was meticulously sorted into over 20 different waste streams, benefiting Redress and our numerous local charity partners, as well as supporting our work to drive a new circular economy for fashion. What better reason for a clear out than knowing you are helping the environment, as well as your local community, and who knows…. perhaps your unwanted dress will end up helping a young woman in need feel fabulous, or that T-shirt that never quite fitted is destined to be knitted into a blanket for the elderly this winter. The fibres in your old jacket could even be recycled and start a new life as a pair of trousers! Globally, currently less than 20% of the clothing we buy each year is collected for re-use or recycling and we’re determined to change that statistic and keep valuable resources in the loop for longer.
If you are based outside of Hong Kong, check out your local government website for information on recycling in your city.
