This October, we’re running a series of fun and educational activities across Hong Kong for local and international schools, companies, and clubs, all focused on shifting attitudes about clothing consumption towards reducing fashion waste and the environmental impacts of our choices. Our events are available bilingually in English and/or Chinese.
Bring us your unwanted clothes: our Takeback Programme has resumed!
Redress is pleased to announce that our Takeback Programme has resumed after a brief hiatus, and you can once again drop your unwanted clothes in one of our 25 conveniently-located collection boxes across Hong Kong for reuse and recycling.
Community Corner May 2022
Our community clothes-sorting sessions have resumed, and we need your help! We are currently facing a 7-tonne backlog of unsorted clothing in our warehouse storage, waiting to be recirculated to our charity partners and other recycling channels. Visit HandsOn Hong Kong to sign up for volunteering and help us tackle this pile-up!

REDRESS CELEBRATES A RECORD-BREAKING GET REDRESSED MONTH
Get Redressed Month is an annual campaign that shines a spotlight on the issue of clothing waste. Our signature events encourage Hongkongers to rethink how they buy, use and dispose of clothing. In October 2021, thousands of companies, clubs, schools and individuals across Hong Kong chose to give their unwanted clothes a new life by participating in Hong Kong’s largest clothing drive, and some went even further and gave secondhand clothing a try too.
CREATING A CIRCULAR SYSTEM FOR UNWANTED CLOTHES
We are delighted to announce that our new partner Jeeves, Hong Kong is now accepting clothing donations at their Aberdeen and Central stores - enabling us to reach a wider audience with our mission to reduce fashion’s waste. Hong Kongers now have a choice of 19 locations across the city where they can easily donate unwanted clothes to Redress for sorting and re-distribution for reuse or recycling.
Don’t let your clothes go to landfill!
With 17 permanent collection points across Hong Kong we’re expanding our year round take back programme to make clothes recycling as easy and accessible as possible! The new year is traditionally a time to clear out the clutter and get organised, so if your cupboard is bursting at the seams we’re here to help…. simply drop off your clothing at Zara and PizzaExpress (with soon to be added Jeeves locations) and with our teams of dedicated volunteers we’ll do the hard work.
Local charity Redress collects a record-breaking 9 tonnes of unwanted clothing for ‘Get Redressed Month’
Hong Kong – Across the city more than 80 companies, clubs and schools, joined Redress for their first #GetRedressed Month – kicking off the charity’s goal to turn October into the official month to take action against textile waste. Just over nine tonnes of unwanted clothing was collected through the drive, which also included a series of events and educational activities designed to drive awareness and shift behaviours among the general public.
Celebrating five years of partnership
Acceptance of pre-loved clothing rises in Hong Kong!
This month hundreds of Hong Kongers visited our latest Pop-up shop eager to get their hands on quality secondhand clothes and accessories from the Redress closet. Our pop-up generated valuable funding for Redress and our work to cut waste out of fashion whilst promoting the local circular economy, as shoppers revealed in the treasures that we freed from hibernation in Hong Kong’s wardrobes and put back into use in one of our largest clothing drives to date!
Hong Kong's public unite to recycle unwanted clothing as Redress pushes for more avenues for recovery
We're leading the charge in helping the Hong Kong public rethink their wardrobe waste. In partnership with laundry experts, Miele, 4.5 tonnes of clothing were collected this week after a short citywide campaign proving that consumers have no desire to throw away their unwanted clothing – of which almost 100% can be recycled. Engaging consumers on the value of keeping clothing in action for longer through better care, the clothing drive is part of our mission to expand our work to save more clothing from landfills.
Get Redressed x Miele Clothing Drive 2017
We are now buying more clothes than ever before and have moved away from carefully looking after our clothes. Skills like cleaning, sewing and storing have fallen out of fashion and many of us are actively damaging our clothes through our everyday cleaning routines - prematurely ageing them by boiling, bleaching and tumbling them within an inch of their lives! We don’t know how to care for, or dispose of our clothes responsibly…
