The Redress Takeback programme is now available in 34 locations throughout Hong Kong thanks to our latest partnership with Inditex Group, the group behind fashion favorites including Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Oysho. Zara Home also features collection boxes for selected home textile items. The strategic alliance with Inditex Group not only increases the number of collection locations but expands the footprint of the programme in Hong Kong and Macau, giving more people an easy and transparent way of giving their clothing a second life. Collection boxes are now in all stores so there has never been a better time to organise your wardrobe.
Once clothing is collected from partners, it is sent to Redress to be sorted and redistributed. Luxury, high quality items in good condition will typically be sold at one of our regular secondhand pop-up shops to raise money for Redress and the environmental work we do. If in good condition, the middle layer of clothing is sorted and sent to an appropriate charitable organisation in Hong Kong. For items in poor condition, or if we cannot find a suitable recipient, we work with recyclers to recycle or downcycle the fabrics into something that can be used again. Less than 1% of the clothing given to Redress must be sent to landfill but this is very much our last resort. Our goal is to always prolong the life of clothing already in the ecosystem.
Redress’ Takeback Programme is just one way we are working towards a more circular, sustainable fashion system. We provide a channel for unwanted used clothing, while also normalising buying secondhand fashion. Ultimately Redress’ vision is to make a significant, positive impact on the amount of clothing that is sent to Hong Kong’s landfills each year.
The collection boxes at Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Oysho accept mens, womens and childrens clothing and accessories. The boxes in Zara Home accept home textiles, except duvets and pillows with stuffing. Please note we do not accept shoes and mouldy items as they can damage the contents of the box.
