The EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)

Created by

2025

Fashion designers should know: The European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is here, and it mandates various eco-design requirements with the goal to reduce the environmental impact of clothing and footwear imported into the region.

To help designers understand their role in enabling sustainable and circular fashion, we collaborated with TAL Apparel to summarise four key eco-design requirements at the design stage: durability, repairability, recyclability, and minimal waste generation.

In our video, hear from sustainability experts including Dr. Christina Dean, Founder, Redress; Jessica Chan, Sustainability Implementation Director, TAL Apparel Ltd; Rod Henderson, President, TAL Apparel Ltd; and Redress alumni designers Kévin Germanier, Hugo Dumas, Wen Hanzhang, and Mara San Pedro. Here’s to a brighter future for fashion!
