Fashion is full of waste and negative environmental impacts, with an estimated 92 million tons of textile waste created annually from the fashion industry.1 But the Redress Design Award, the world’s leading sustainable fashion design competition, combats this by educating and empowering designers to create using waste textiles.
In June, Redress hosted events in Shenzhen and Hong Kong to celebrate the Redress Design Award 2026. The gatherings brought together industry leaders, sustainable fashions designers, and policymakers to dissect the dual impact of EU sustainability regulations and China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, alongside Redress’ industry guide on post-consumer clothing waste solutions.

In Shenzhen, Redress’ event was co-hosted with the Shenzhen Garment Industry Association (SGIA) and Redress Alum, Jesse Lee, who shared about circular fashion design. And in Hong Kong, Redress welcomed Spire Executive, the Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium (SFBC), and First Prize partner Simple Approach to connect on the importance of the local Hong Kong fashion industry.

The Redress Design Award 2026 Finalists, who are now building their collections made from waste textiles, are showing the world what’s possible for circular fashion design. Their sustainable creations will be showcased on the runway of the Grand Final Fashion Show in Hong Kong this September, a significant step for their budding careers in positively impacting the fashion industry.
