Check out what we’ve been doing lately to spread sustainable fashion in Hong Kong!
‘Redressing the Lion Dance’ documentary
Fashion sustainability and Chinese heritage converged in our ‘Redressing the Lion Dance’ initiative, where we selected two of Hong Kong’s sustainable design talents, Pearl Leung of gong1long4coi4zeon6 and Eric Wong of Absurd Laboratory, to reimagine the traditional lion dance costume as a showpiece upcycled from unwearable garments from our Clothing Collection Programme.
The project was brought to life in collaboration with Ha Kwok Cheung, a legendary dragon and lion dance troupe with over 90 years of history in Hong Kong, and the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), our Lead Sponsor. Watch the documentary:
Garment Recycling Day at HK PolyU
On 13 February, Redress participated in a Garment Recycling Day at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University alongside several local charities. Together, we encouraged the school community to give their unwanted clothes new life, including by showcasing waste-reducing looks from our Redress Design Award competition.

Upcycled T-shirt to Shopping Bag Workshop
This Saturday, 7 March, Redress Alum, Pearl Leung of gong1long4coi4zeon6 is leading an upcycling workshop turning unwanted T-shirts into a tote bag at our very own secondhand shop, The Redress Closet.
This workshop was a big hit at our various ‘Redressing the Lion Dance’ events. Now we’re excited to bring it over to our own space, uniting crafters and secondhand shoppers with a common source: unwanted garments from our Clothing Collection Programme.
