Let’s Get Redressed!
Get Redressed Month 2026 is here to urge Hong Kongers to take action against clothing waste right now. Joining hands with companies, schools, and the public, let’s give clothes a new life and be inspired towards better habits of care for the clothes we keep, wear, and share.
An estimated 400+ tonnes of textiles are landfilled daily in Hong Kong—equivalent to 17,000+ suitcases full of textiles tossed!
What can I do?
Rather than feeding the vicious cycle of fashion, which comes at a great cost to our environment, we invite you to cultivate better clothing habits through Get Redressed Month activities:
Be inspired to extend the life of your clothes by watching Bonde, SideGas, and Utah keep, wear, and share theirs!
Bonde @lokyi_mui
Clothes are not just objects to me, but living beings They will accompany me, will carry memories. So I will cherish them and thank them
This red and white striped top is my favourite in recent years. Once I put it on, I will unconsciously become happy.
Who says an outfit can’t be worn repeatedly? Watch me wear this top over and over again…from daily activities to public appearances
Open your closet and take a look In fact, you already own a lot.
Remember, keep and cherish every piece of clothing
嘥氣 @sidegas_hk
In an age where everything feels disposable and fast, we discard clothes much too quickly.
How many still choose to mend what’s broken?
It’s not just about our wardrobes. Life works the same way — sometimes we want to quit at the first setback, walk away during challenges.
Mending isn’t settling for less. It’s choosing to care.
For this @GetRedressed Month — slow down, because some things are truly worth keeping.
Utah @utahlee
Sharing is caring 😄♻️
I had the best time treasure-hunting for secondhand gems at @TheRedressCloset in Sham Shui Po — so many unique pre-loved finds waiting for a new life 💚
This May, @GetRedressed is back with Get Redressed Month to rethink how we wear and share fashion with actions:
Keep it.
Wear it.
Share it.
Care for what you own, restyle what you have, and pass on pre-loved pieces so they can be worn again.
Sharing isn’t just giving away clothes — it’s the simplest way to keep fashion in circulation and build mindful sustainable wardrobe habits for everyone.
Let’s keep fashion circulating ♻️
Why should we care?
Fashion waste impacts our whole planet, contributing to the climate crisis we’re currently facing. Across the world, extreme climate events are accelerating, caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions such as carbon dioxide and methane, which are generated in the production of fashion. Yet much of these harmful gases are generated in vain. The current linear industry encourages wearing clothes for a short time before disposing of them. Every year, the global fashion industry produces more than 100 to 150 billion items of clothing which is way more than the amount of people on Earth!

UNWANTED CLOTHES
Are clothes you no longer wear piling up in your closet? They deserve getting a new life outside of your wardrobe!
During the month of May, we will have over 160 public and private (e.g. school, company) clothing collection points available for you to drop off your unwanted clothing. All the clothing collected throughout May will then be carefully sorted during Hong Kong’s largest sorting event – Sort-a-Thon.
The clothes will be sorted for reuse by local charity partners (50-60%), downcycling (20-30%), and resale by Redress as secondhand clothing (10-15%).
The remaining 1-4% (which is usually trash, torn paper bags, etc) will going to landfill.
Please note we do not accept:
What can I drop off?
We accept clothes in any condition, but please note that we do NOT take the following items:
- Home Textiles (e.g. towels, bedsheets, pillows)
- Broken or damaged shoes and accessories
- Uniforms
- Plastic or Paper Bags
Find your nearest public clothing collection location today and give your unwanted clothes a new life!
*Please wash the items before dropping them in the boxes.
FAQ:

Clothing Drive
- Where will the clothes go?
- Items collected will be sorted into different categories at the Sort-a-Thon event. After they are carefully checked, they’ll be redistributed: 50%-60% will be given to local charities, 20-30% will be downcycled, 10%-15% will be resold at our popup/shops. Only damaged non-textile items (broken shoes, plastic bags, etc) will go to landfill, which represents less than 4%.
- Which charities do you work with?
- The clothes sorted for donation will be redistributed to our network of 20+ local charity partners for reuse by their beneficiaries, including Crossroads, Caritas, YWAM, ImpactHK, Christian Action, and many more.
- What about clothes that cannot be reused?
- Clothes that have reached the end of their ‘wearable’ life (e.g. used personal items like underwear, socks, sleepwear, and swimwear, or really worn out/stained/damaged items), or clothes that our charity partners don’t want (e.g. company/school uniforms), are difficult for us to deal with. Globally, including in Hong Kong, there is a lack of viable recycling technologies to deal with these ‘bottom layer’ clothes at scale. At the moment, Redress is working with a partner in Hong Kong to downcycle these items, by shredding the materials and using them to produce boxing bags (to be sent to Thailand boxing schools). Metal pieces (zipper, buttons) are removed at the shredding process to be recycled separately. Each boxing bag requires approximately 40–50 kg of shredded materials.
