Press Release

Redress Design Award 2025 Exhibition Celebrates 15 Years of Sustainable Fashion Game-changers by Spotlighting Global Talent

1 November 2025

Shanghai, China, 1 November 2025 – Fresh off the runway of the 15th edition of the Redress Design Award 2025, the world’s leading sustainable fashion design competition, Asia-focused NGO Redress unveils an exhibition at Grand Gateway Shanghai featuring the ten Finalists and select Alumni who are spearheading fashion’s shift toward circularity. This landmark showcase spotlights how design innovation can tackle the textile industry’s reliance on virgin materials (which account for over 99% of the 3.25 billion tonnes of materials it consumes annually), proving waste can be transformed into beauty.

Organised by Redress and supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the Lead Sponsor, the Redress Design Award 2025 drew thousands of designers globally, culminating in a competition that champions upcycling, zero-waste techniques, and ethical design. The exhibition brings their visionary collections to life, each piece a testament to the potential of sustainable practices to revolutionise fashion.

China-based Alumni Spotlight: Designers Driving Local and Global Change

Among the exhibiting trailblazers are Redress Design Award 2025 winner Carla Zhang, whose collection ‘Glitch Theory’ reimagines deadstock textiles through freestyle hand-weaving, and fellow alumni Tian Ruyin and Wen Pan—all embodying the award’s mission to empower a new generation of designers.

“Winning the Redress Design Award wasn’t just a career milestone, it was a validation that sustainable fashion can be bold, creative, and commercially viable,” shared Carla Zhang. “My collection proves that ‘waste’ is just a label; with the right vision, it becomes art. I hope it inspires other designers in China and beyond to see textile waste as a canvas, not a constraint.”

Tian Ruyin added, “Being part of this community has shown me that sustainability in fashion isn’t a niche—it’s the future. The exhibition is a celebration of that future, where every stitch tells a story of reclamation and innovation.”

Wen Pan noted, “The Redress Design Award taught me to design with intention—every material choice, every silhouette, is a step toward reducing fashion’s environmental impact. This exhibition is a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in making fashion sustainable.”

A Call to Action for Industry and Consumers Alike

The Redress Design Award 2025 exhibition exemplifies how sustainable fashion is not only necessary to address the textile industry’s environmental impact, but also achievable through creativity, innovation, and style. Through the work of these showcased sustainable designers, Redress hopes to inspire both industry and consumers towards reducing fashion waste.
