The designer from Germany wins the career-changing chance to work on a sustainable design collaboration out of VF Corporation’s Tokyo Design Collective with the Timberland® design team for the brand’s Spring 2025 apparel collection.
The time has come: we’ve been working hard for months to prepare, and the coming days and weeks will be a wild and rewarding ride as we welcome the Redress Design Award 2023 Finalists (and judges!) to Hong Kong for a whirlwind of masterclasses, challenges, fittings, rehearsals, judging sessions, and unforgettable experiences, all leading up to the Grand Final Fashion Show.
Three of our Hong Kong Redress Design Award Alumni designers have hit the rails in Haustage, Asia's first sustainable fashion and lifestyle boutique, with designs created from a wide range of stunning waste fabrics.
Empowering future generations to reduce fashion’s negative environmental impacts is a core part of our work at Redress. To accelerate our impact on students’ habits towards clothing, this fall we are launching two new activities targeting Hong Kong primary and secondary schools respectively. As part of the upcoming CENTRESTAGE Asia’s Fashion Spotlight event, we are presenting six emerging sustainable brands at the Redress Design Award Alumni booth from 6–9 September 2023 (Wednesday–Saturday, 11am–7pm) supported by Alumni Sponsor, Mercedes-Benz.
The world is awash with unwanted clothes; over 100 billion new garments* are produced every year; and around 70% of clothes will meet their (unnecessary!) fate in landfill or incineration. To transform this, we need to keep clothes in use for as long as possible by upping our knowledge of sustainable consumer care techniques like washing, repairing, altering and redesigning.
To encourage consumer participation in driving sustainability in fashion, we invited the public to have their say on which of the 30 Redress Design Award Semi-finalists could best influence the future of the industry. Among them, a fan favourite has emerged: Indian designer Pavneet Kaur is the Redress Design Award 2023 People’s Choice winner who is now fast-tracked to the Grand Final!
The Redress Design Award 2023 Semi-finalists are ready to be revealed! This year, we received applications from 46 countries and regions. Now the 30 hopeful designers, among the world’s best emerging talents at tackling fashion’s growing waste crisis, are waiting in the wings for you to cast your votes for the ‘People’s Choice Award’.
In celebration of Earth Week, The Redress Closet, our curated secondhand clothing shop, will be offering an even bigger selection of affordable preloved items! This limited-time event in April further empowers Hong Kongers to shop sustainably and reduce fashion waste by giving clothes a second life.

We literally couldn't do it without them: CN Logistics collects, stores, and pre-sorts the clothing from our Hong Kong Takeback Programme so we can do the enormous job of finding the most sustainable destination for your unwanted clothing.
Our Redress Design Award alumni are supported in their careers even beyond the competition. 2020 Runner-up, Ruth Weerasinghe, recently had the opportunity to work with The R Collective, the social impact business that rescues, reuses, and recycles a wide range of excess materials, to design a backpack exclusively for UBS.
